How It Works

Specimen Collection Overview

1. Collect stool according to clinician instructions and kit guidance, avoiding contamination with urine or toilet water.
2. Apply thin smears to the designated windows for each sample as directed and close flaps.
3. Allow the card to dry and return/store per instructions until testing.
4. Apply developer to the reverse side test areas and read results within the specified time window.

Result Interpretation

A blue color in the reaction area is interpreted as a positive indication for occult blood; absence of blue color is interpreted as negative, when read within the required timeframe. Results can be influenced by intermittent bleeding, sample handling, dietary peroxidases, and certain medications.
